Case study. PR for a road intelligence company helping at-risk communities

BackRoadIntel is an AI-powered platform that tracks backroad conditions, giving remote communities real time data to make informed evacuation decisions.

Intellimass, the makers of BackRoadIntel, hired Mind Meld PR to showcase the critical need for their technology. The PR client got major media exposure in national, regional and local news outlets, with 7 million viewers and readers.

PR Challenge

The summer wildfire season was a critical time to gain brand awareness for Intellimass' target audience.

Mind Meld PR needed to target and proactively pitch reporters to bring attention to the company's innovative technology solution for at-risk communities. With that media coverage in hand, the client would be able to leverage greater brand awareness to help close sponsorship and sales deals.

PR Solution

MindMeld executed a PR campaign that put BackRoadIntel’s story in front of targeted reporters covering news in rural areas, business, startups, tech and more.

Building credibility and legitimacy was the primary objective. Mind Meld PR positioned the leadership team as experts on road intelligence and focused on local, regional and national media across technology, emergency management, indigenous communities and the AI market.

Mind Meld PR’s associates secured interviews and podcast appearances that drove home Intellimass' message of the need for up-to-date information to save lives.

PR Results

BackRoadIntel by Intellimass got 15 pieces of media coverage both nationally and in targeted regions. This news coverage reached over 7 million readers, viewers, and listeners. Media outlets included Global News, Business in Vancouver, CFJC Today, Kelowna Capital News, Squamish Chief and RadioAM 1150 alongside more targeted, niche appearances on Startup Canada and DisasterZone

“The Mind Meld PR team has gotten us great media exposure which has strengthened our credibility. It can be hard to break through as a small company and convince people that you’re not another AI company making big claims. Now people know who we are, and what we’re doing in the community. That visibility has helped us build trust, grow the business and get more support to move the project forward.” says Ryan Gallagher, CEO of Intellimass, the makers of BackRoadIntel.
